Since 1923, the Veterans of Foreign Wars has been committed to promoting safety, protecting communities, and recognizing the men and women who dedicate their lives to public service. Through the VFW Safety Program, Posts across the nation work to educate citizens, support first responders, and encourage safe, healthy living for individuals and families. [vfw.org], [vfwmi.org]
The VFW's Safety Program focuses on several key areas:
Promoting responsible driving habits, increasing awareness of traffic safety issues, and supporting initiatives that help make our roads safer for everyone. [vfwmi.org]
Encouraging safe practices for pedestrians, cyclists, and children through education and community outreach programs. [vfwmi.org]
Supporting activities that promote safe participation in outdoor recreation, including boating, hunting, sports, and other leisure activities enjoyed by families and communities. [vfwmi.org]
Helping individuals and families protect their homes, property, and loved ones through fire prevention awareness and home safety education. [vfwmi.org]
Providing education and resources that help communities understand the dangers of substance abuse, including prescription drug misuse, while encouraging healthy choices and prevention efforts. [vfwmi.org]
Honoring firefighters, emergency medical personnel, paramedics, and law enforcement officers whose service and dedication help keep our communities safe every day. [vfwmi.org], [vfw.org]
The VFW Safety Program goes beyond awareness campaigns. Posts are encouraged to develop partnerships with community leaders, schools, civic organizations, public safety agencies, and volunteers to address local safety needs and improve the quality of life for all citizens. [vfw.org]
